Our Chardonnay comes from a very small allocation of 1.5 tons, comprised of three clones to ensure a diversity of flavours and textures in the wine. Once pressed, the juice is racked into 25% new French barriques, where fermentation occurs naturally. The wine ages for 11 months with occasional stirring of the lees, bringing richness to the mouthfeel while highlighting the wines natural minerality.
(2016) The fruit is sourced from the newly approved Van Duzer Corridor AVA. It brings a distinctive, heady mix of floral scents, a dusting of pollen and a hint of body powder, complementing apple and peach skin flavors more than flesh. Complex and unusual, it's well worth exploring if you are willing to venture outside the standard Chardonnay boundaries.
(2017) This lovely follow-up to the 2016 debut brings the same complex aromas of flower pollens, leading into a detailed fruit mix of crisp apple, ripe banana and cantaloupe melon. Barrel fermented with native yeast in one-quarter new French oak, it's got excellent length and subtle details that reward your patience and attention.
