Seghesio Family Vineyards? roots are firmly planted in Zinfandel, as our founder, Edoardo Seghesio, first planted this historic varietal on our Alexander Valley Home Ranch in 1895. Today, we share his passion as we farm estate Zinfandel in Alexander and Dry Creek valleys. This wine combines sites that have produced Zinfandel for over a century with newer sites that utilize proprietary clones and the most advanced viticultural practices.
Aromas of wild blueberry, briary raspberry patch and baking spice give way to a palate of juicy, ripe blackberry and black plum. Soft tannins, a rich mouthfeel and focused acidity lead to a long finish, creating a delightful wine to pair with red sauces, pizza, and barbeque, as well as sopressata and dry jack.
Blend: 87% Zinfandel, 9% Petite Sirah, 2% Carignane, 1% Syrah and 1% mixed reds.
This is an impressive appellation wine, blended with smaller percentages of Petite Sirah, Carignan, Syrah and mixed reds. Aged in both American and French oak, it is earthy, thick and brawny in leather, tobacco and coffee. Black baked fruit completes the picture, finishing in dust.
